The Board and ULFA negotiating teams held their thirty-sixth bargaining session toward a new Academic Staff Collective Agreement (ASCA) on the afternoon of January 26, 2026. One ULFA member attended as an observer. The Board team was represented with one member absent and another member joining virtually.
The Board team presented a revision to Article 11.03.3.a.iii, a revised MOU on a working group regarding Indigenous evaluation, and a spreadsheet listing articles with status comments. The Board team also asked some clarification questions regarding ULFA’s positions on open articles.
The ULFA team provided feedback on the article status discussion and also encouraged the Board team to identify February negotiation dates, with and without the mediator. Discussion points from the ULFA team included a reminder that they consider Articles 9, 19 (and 11) to be part of a package that includes the teaching professoriate. The team further noted that if agreement is not reached in both areas (grievance/discipline and the teaching professoriate), it may be necessary to revert to status quo on all articles in this package in this bargaining round.
Both teams have accepted February 4 and March 2 and 3 (tentatively for March) for mediation dates. On January 23, the mediator offered the parties additional mediation dates. The ULFA team has accepted February 9, 10, 17, 24, and 27. The Board team has yet to respond regarding the additional dates, but indicated during the January 26 session that they will respond the following day.
