The Board and ULFA negotiating teams held their twenty-fifth session toward a new Academic Staff Collective Agreement (ASCA) on May 5, 2025. Once again, the parties prepared and exchanged written proposals before the meeting to promote efficient use of the half-day session. The Board team’s proposals and rationale addressed Articles 3, 4, 10, 11 and Schedule T. The ULFA team’s proposals addressed Articles 5 and 32.
The ULFA team opened with some questions on the Board team’s proposals for the May 5th session. The first question sought confirmation that Article 11 is understood to be part of the ULFA package presented March 19, 2025 containing Articles 9, 11, 19, and nine articles/schedules comprising the ULFA team’s teaching professoriate proposal. The Board team confirmed this understanding and said they hope to be able to present a teaching professoriate response in June. The ULFA team also requested clarification on several aspects of the Board team’s Article 4 proposal.
The Board team followed with several questions about provisions in the ULFA team’s proposals for Articles 5 and 32.
Other matters touched on briefly included some preliminary questions on the Board team’s April 25, 2025 response to the ULFA team’s July 2024 requested data disclosures and confirmation of the current status of exchanged proposals. The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for May 26 (half-day), June 24 (full day), and June 25 (half-day), 2025. A summary of the progress of articles opened in this round of bargaining is available here.
