ULFA was recently notified that Dr. Kelly Williams-Whitt, who assumed the role of Chair of the Board Negotiating Team on July 1st replacing Dr. Chris Nicol, is leaving the University of Lethbridge and will therefore also be leaving the Board Negotiating Team.
A Town Hall on the current status of Bargaining and the ULFA Job Action Committee (JAC) structure was held on June 23rd.
The bargaining town hall held June 3, 2021 was well-attended by members. The focus was mainly on the Board’s proposal for salary, increments, and evaluation, in which substantive changes were proposed for both instructors and faculty members.
The Board team presented their initial positions for Articles 9 (Personal Files) and 22 (Grievance and Interpretation.
The ULFA negotiating team presented a response on Schedule R (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and their initial proposal on Article 17 (Personnel Committees).
The ULFA bargaining town hall held May 5, 2021 was well-attended by members and included many Instructors. The focus was mainly on ULFA’s proposal for the creation of a Teaching Professoriate and other issues impacting Instructors such as workload.
On April 22, representatives of the Board and ULFA held their sixth bargaining session since the exchange of full proposals on January 18, 2021.
From opening remarks, it appeared that the Board and ULFA teams had different understandings of the ground rules agreed upon prior to the exchange of complete proposal packages on January 18th.
