ULFA Update on Collective Bargaining April 10, 2026

The ULFA Negotiating Team, Bargaining Resource Committee, and Executive are pleased to announce that the ULFA membership voted in favour of ratifying the 2024-2028 Academic Staff Collective Agreement (ASCA). The ULFA ratification e-vote closed on April 2, 2026. The Board of Governors ratified the agreement on March 31, 2026.

The Negotiating Team thanks all ULFA members for their engagement during this process, from developing the bargaining mandate to providing feedback through surveys and town halls. We especially thank the  ~10% of our membership who participated as observers and the many who served on ULFA committees, including Bargaining Resource; Job Action; Shop Stewards; Gender, Equity and Diversity; Grievance; Joint Benefits; and the Executive.

The new ASCA creates two working groups that require ULFA representatives: (1) Evaluation of Indigenous Members, and (2) Merit Appeal Process. Please look for announcements regarding these working groups and contact the ULFA office if you are interested in serving on either.

We would also like to thank ULFA staff for their immeasurable support throughout this process: Aaron Chubb, Meghan McCrae, Brendan Bruce, and Karl Laderoute. The final version of the 2024-2028 ASCA will be provided once it has been collated. In the meantime please refer to the ratification documents for access to the new collective agreement language.
