The University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA) and the Board of Governors of the University of Lethbridge have both ratified a collective agreement for the period 2020-2024. The Board of Governors voted to ratify Saturday March 19. ULFA members voted in a 48 hour electronic ballot, closing Monday March 21.
The ULFA membership voted 91% in favour of accepting the Executive Committee’s recommendation to ratify the collective agreement as proposed by the ULFA negotiating team. 92% of the ULFA membership participated in the ballot. This followed on a 92% strike vote at the beginning of February and a 94% vote to recommend a mandate to the negotiating team two years previously.
The settlement came as a result of enhanced mediation and negotiation from March 15-18. The settlement documents can be found here. We will be publishing a more complete discussion of the settlement in the next few days.
ULFA members returned to work as of midnight Tuesday morning. Classes are currently scheduled to begin on Wednesday. A special meeting of the General Faculties Council (GFC) has been called to finalise plans for the resumption of instruction.
