Dear Colleagues and Supporters,

Send a letter to the University of Lethbridge President and senior leadership and ask them to negotiate a fair deal with ULFA that prioritizes high-quality education and fair working conditions!

The University of Lethbridge administration is happy to praise its academic staff for the efforts they have made over the last decade to keep the university afloat through tumultuous times. But when it comes to salary and benefits at the bargaining table, the Board seems reluctant to show that they value the ongoing efforts of academic staff.

For the third time in a row, the Board’s negotiating team has argued that academic staff at the university should be offered less than the full amount allowed by the already inadequate provincial government directives. This is in contrast to what we’ve seen in settlements at other universities in the province where faculty are receiving the government’s full offer of 12% over four years alongside improvements in language and benefits. This is in addition to ULFA members currently being paid an average of 15-20% less than academic staff at our historical comparators (and sometimes even less than that) and receiving some of the worst health benefits in the industry.

ULFA cares deeply about the issues affecting our community.  We are currently working hard to negotiate a fair collective agreement that doesn’t undervalue our academic staff. After years of praising the academic staff while offering below-standard pay and benefits, it is time for the university to recognize the efforts of its academic staff with something other than rhetoric. Let’s put the interests of our community first.

Send a letter to the University President and senior leadership and ask them to negotiate a fair deal that prioritizes high-quality education and fair working conditions!
