Discussion on the U Waterloo attacks

We have all been profoundly shaken by the horrific and targeted attack at the University of Waterloo a few weeks ago against a professor and students of a philosophy course on gender. The incident speaks to larger threats against gender-related studies across the post-secondary sector, and there is an urgent need now to respond with concrete measures.

The ULFA Executive and the Gender, Equity and Diversity Committee are inviting all Members to join an open meeting to discuss what these measures might be, in the short and longer term. Our goal is to unify our Members’ resources and voices in order to support the University’s response, to advocate for the strongest protections possible, and to track the measures being taken by other Universities across the country.

All Members are warmly invited to attend the open meeting.

We appreciate and look forward to your input in a safe setting.

ULFA Executive Members and GEDC Members
